We look forward to seeing you at the Station for our 10th Season of Jazz and Blues at the Station.

2016 Jazz & Blues at the Station celebrates 10th Anniversary

On July 4th 2007 a group of Collingwood Jazz and Blues enthusiasts presented a concert at the Collingwood Museum/Station featuring the Fig Leaf Jazz Band playing to an audience of 65 attendees.

During that summer of 2007 a total of nearly 500 attended the series of 6 concerts.

jazz_stationNine years later on August 19, 2015  a record crowd of over 500 enthusiastic fans enjoyed the Chuck Jackson concert at the Station. The 9 concert 2015 series was attended by over 3100.

The steady growth and popularity of the series to become a highlight of the summer in Collingwood has been gratifying to the members of the Collingwood Jazz&Blues Society.

Some people feel that they don’t like Jazz or that Blues music is too sad for them but when they hear the music of the artists that we present they get a whole different outlook and some of them, who had once been dragged to the Station are now counted in the group of our most rabid fans says Frank McNulty president of the Collingwood Jazz&Blues Society and producer of the series.

We present a mix of accessible first class music that transcends genres. Modern music grew from the roots of Blues, Gospel, Jazz and Country music and that is what you’ll find at the Collingwood Station on summer Wednesday evenings, music styles blended together like a fine New Orleans gumbo.

The 2015 lineup includes many of the favourite artists from previous years along with some new names and fresh faces. The only constant is the high level of musicianship and performance.

The 2016 artist lineup will include Tamica & The Boyz, GRACE! the the all female 8 piece retro R&B Band, Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, ColdJack, the Jerome Tucker Band, the Joel Johnson Blues Band, Lance Anderson, Joint Chiefs of Soul with guests Quisha Wint and Matt Weidinger, the Chuck Jackson Trio and the Lisa Hutchinson Band.
The Station Series is proudly supported by a generous group of local sponsors which includes Balmoral Village Developments, Chestnut Park Real Estate, the Town of Collingwood, the Enterprise Bulletin, Sidelaunch Breweries, the Print Shop and many more.

There is no admission charge but donations are encouraged and the hat is passed at intermission.

The first concert of this year’s series will be Thursday June 30 to provide a big start to the Collingwood Canada Day weekend.  All concerts start at 6pm and run until 8pm.

The Collingwood Jazz & Blues Society with the assistance of the Town of Collingwood and many local sponsors will be presenting the Jazz and Blues at the Station Series again this year. The series will run every Wednesday evening 6 to 8pm from June 25 to August 20.

Without the support of our sponsors both large and small we could not continue to offer this high caliber of talent at our concert seroes thoughout the year. Whether it’s the free (donations accepted gladly) Jazz & Blues at the Station in the Summer or our Winter ticketed concerts, Winter Blues Series and Sunday afternoon at the Casbah they all depend on the support of our sponsors.

As Members and Fans of the Collingwood Jazz & Blues Society I urge you to support those who support us!

As someone doing business in this area I would suggest that you look at the attractive opportunity to advertise to a particular demographic and to be supporting live music in your community!

If you and/or your company would like to assist the Society in our projects please contact us or call 705-444-4449.
