Save the GBCS Music Room

Georgian Bay Community school will be building a “super school” to host students from K-12 in Meaford, Ont.. However, the blueprint made for the new school has only one music room and is smaller than the current music room. This means that the elementary school and high school students will have to share the space for half a day each; essentially meaning no more extracurriculars and no more of that ‘family’ spirit that has made the music room such a comforting place.

The music program is part of the heart and soul that makes the school and Meaford such a special place. There’s almost a third of the high school’s population in the orchestra program and with many students in the elementary school developing a passion for music, having only one music room would hurt all of the students’ music education.

But, the GBCS Music program isn’t just a course or an extracurricular, it is a community. The music room isn’t just a classroom, it’s a place to make friends, memories, and gain confidence as a person and as a musician.

We need this program to stay at our school.  Please help us save this music program and help spread all of the love, passion, and spirit that this program has!
