Two Shows by Jason Booth: Live it in Colour and Reliving the Past
September 1 to October 30, 2016
Art Walk, Bridge Gallery, and
FreeSchools World Literacy Room
Jason Booth has spent years crafting his unique skill of “Photo Art.” Turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.
A homegrown self-taught photographer and artist, Jason has spent almost 20 years capturing the life of Collingwood.
As an old soul, focusing on the heritage of Collingwood, his style of photography has two spins to it; one is a vibrant image while the second might have a heritage spin to it. Jason’s ability to edit and give an image an “Artful Life” allows him to set his own sail.
Jason entered into photography just as film and digital were introduced to each other.
“I remember taking rolls and rolls of film into the camera store for development, only to get a handful of images that I believed in.”
With one show under his belt, Jason is excited to showcase his second and third show at the same time.
Live it in Colour is about taking an image, dressing it up and taking it to the ball for everyone to see – transforming the dull colours into what your eyes want to see.
Reliving the Past takes us back in time to Collingwood’s industry days. It’s a look into the private Booth Collection of Collingwood historical photos, where he will showcase many images that he has collected over the years.
“What I am doing here is a passion, both preserving the past in a personal collection and archiving along with providing education of our past; all the while photographing the current.”
