MIFF Offers Free Film to Youth
Any young people between the ages of 14 and 18 who play on a team no matter what the sport are invited to a free matinee showing of the film Red Army. All you have to do to get in is wear your team jersey. Red Army is scheduled to play on Saturday, September 5th, 2pm at Meaford Hall.
The film is a documentary history of the Soviet Red Army hockey team from Stalin to Putin. Blending some astounding archive footage, KGB confessions and analysis, Red Army offers unique insight into Russian politics while documenting super star “Slava” Fetisov’s journey from national hero to despised defector. Don’t forget your jersey for this Cold war shinny!
Red Army is one of four films being featured during this year’s Meaford International Film Festival. Other films include Selma, A Brilliant Young Mind, and Speed Sisters. Each of our films tells its’ own story, but together they are a testament to the human drive to break through obstacles in order to stay true to ourselves and our dreams.
