Marylin Leischnig ~ Bio
Thirteen years ago, Marylin semi-retired to the Meaford area. She worked as a transplant nurse for most of her career in London Ontario.
You never know what you will find in a painting or what medium she will use. Imagination and thrift play an important role as she works in the studios on her property near the Tank Range.
Largely self – taught, she used painting as a distraction from the intense work of transplant nursing as well as a great elixir for insomnia. Eldon Leis, Jim Reed and Paul Mantrop have been her greatest mentors. Her work is largely influenced by The Group of Seven, Emily Carr and Norval Morrisseau.
Favourite period in art history, “The Post Modern Fauvist”, 1927-1952. Cezanne, Mondrian, DeKooning, Kalo, Picasso are among her favourites.
She likes to create layers of political satire with collage. Her dream is to travel to NYC and study at the “Student Art League.
