Collingwood will be hosting its first harbour festival on August 1 – 3


Sidelaunch Days is a three-day multi-venue, multi-recreational event celebrating the joy of being in, on, and around South Georgian Bay while commemorating the unique shipbuilding heritage of Collingwood. There will be boat loads of fun activities starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing into the late afternoon every day. Saturday and Sunday even features the first ever art projection on the Grain Elevators from 9:00 – 11:00 p.m.

The side launch basin and harbour will feature stand-up paddling (SUP) races and demonstrations, water sport tryouts, sailing regattas, Cheercore Demonstrations, an ‘Eats, Treats and Art Promenade’ including a kids kite and craft centre. There’s even a Kitefest with professional flying demonstrations on Monday.


Collingwood Downtown will also be bustling with activity including a piano street jam, buskers and bands, as well as the Collingwood Arts and Music Festival at the Station Museum.  There will be nautical themed activities for the children at the Saturday Farmers’ Market.


The excitement will extend along the pier and up to Millennium Park at the end of Heritage Drive. Enjoy South Georgian Bay’s only dockside bar showcasing Side Launch Brewery’s local craft beers, and a magnificent view of the historic harbour from 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday andSunday. While there, celebrate Collingwood’s rich shipbuilding history at the Lounge, which was inspired by local historical author George Czerny. Photos, artifacts and more are a tribute to the women and men who worked at the Collingwood Shipyards. Sunday will feature the first open-air Buddha Rider yoga session…a perfect way to start a sensational summer day. Daily cruises will also depart from Heritage Drive locations.CAMF


If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes at the Collingwood Museum, join  staff for a tour of the museum’s rejuvenated storage facility, after its recent reorganization project. Step behind the barricades to view the 2,000+ artifacts that have made their way into the main gallery. On August 1st and 2nd, Museum staff will be hosting this unique opportunity. Tours are free; however, donations are greatly appreciated. Tours will depart every half hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. Please note there will be no tours between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.Preregistration is not required; however, if you would like to reserve your spot, please call museum staff at 705-445-4811.
