PowerUp Your Business Mentorship Series launches

An all new mentorship program launches this October, with seven interactive monthly mentoring sessions designed to help business owners take their companies to the next level.

Each session is designed to inform participating business leaders on relevant topics, guide them to finding solutions to the problems they may face, inspire through rapid-fire brainstorming, and focus them on their priorities for the next month.

“In recent years we have seen significant growth in the number of new business startups in the South Georgian Bay area,” reports Tim Newton of the Business Enterprise Resource Network, and the program’s facilitator. “We have also identified a gap in service. We are confident that PowerUp will be a resounding success as it meets the needs of our community’s business owners and their appetite for growth and success.”

It all adds up to a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in South Georgian Bay and one that will be further fuelled when key regional partners kick off the PowerUp Your Business Mentorship Series in October. These interactive sessions are designed to help entrepreneurs grow, many of whom struggle with how to take their businesses to the next level. Participants will hear from expert panelists on the pillars of doing business. The sessions will cover financing, marketing and sales, technology, human resources, and more. Participants will be able to connect with local mentors who are successful, seasoned business owners in order to get some guidance on growth challenges. Two information sessions will be held in October; the first on Wednesday, October 7th, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the second on Thursday, October 15th, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Business Resource Network, located at 1 First Street, Suite 206. Details and registration is available at PowerUpYourBusiness.ca or call 705-445-7333.

“Mentoring helped me push through the uncomfortable moments,” said one local business owner. “I enjoyed sharing my news- the good and the bad. I don’t see why any business owner who wishes to create change would not want to register today!” Another business startup offered up a different perspective on the value of mentorship. “After starting my business, I quickly realized I couldn’t do it all, while still keeping a work-life balance. Until I found a mentor, I had no idea how to break out of the overwhelming workload. My mentor helped me focus, prioritize and partner so I could lead my business, and enjoy life too.”

“With research showing that entrepreneurs with a mentor have an added advantage for success, the PowerUp program is an excellent opportunity for growth-oriented business owners in our community to meet potential mentors who can help drive their business development,” says Betty Langford, General Manager, Centre for Business and Economic Development, and the program’s manager.
