Learn about new trends at Library Technology Fair

How secure is public Wi-Fi? How many steps did I take today? Technology is evolving so quickly and we need to understand how it impacts our daily routines and dependencies. The Collingwood Public Library will offer more insight and information at its second annual Technology Fair on Thursday, January 19.

The Fair will host local technology vendors and share computer learning resources in the evening’s Meet & Greet session at 6:30 p.m. Attend this session for a chance to win over $100.00 in door prizes. At 7:00 p.m., the Library will host a panel discussion with local technology experts who will cover such trends as top tips for home computing, online privacy, technology trends, and more.

“Since last year’s Tech Fair, we have seen a huge shift in technology. People are relying on wearable technology to keep them active and are exploring Library Technology Fair technology tools to streamline day to day routines,” says Claire Reyes, Technology Coordinator at the Library. “This event will introduce the community to learning resources and help answer technology questions.”

Participants and sponsors include Adult Learning Centres, Georgian College, Guide on the Side, Learning Centres of Simcoe County, The Computer Doctor, Nanite Tech Advisors, Nerds on Site, Total eWorks, and Staples.

The event takes place on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Library. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Admission is free, but registration is required. Sign up at the Library’s Public Services Desk or call 705-445-1571.
