Library launch party provides access for all
Collingwood Public Library celebrating National Access Awareness Week
May 23 to 29 is National Access Awareness Week! In celebration, the Collingwood Public Library is launching new assistive technology to ensure the full participation of our community in library programs and services. A new customer service desk will also open on the second floor to provide greater access to technology and reference support.
The public is invited to join Library staff, Town officials, and representatives from local organizations on Friday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate these changes and spread awareness of accessibility services offered in the community.
“The purpose of this launch party is to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for helping us eliminate communication barriers at our Library,” says Jennifer Murley, Accessibility Coordinator at the Collingwood Public Library, “and also to inform our community of the accessibility services we provide.”
Among other officials, MPP Jim Wilson and a representative from the Trillium Foundation will be in attendance.
Activities on the second floor will include demonstrations of touch technology, speed-to-text technology, infrared assistive listening technology, and more. An information fair will take place on the first floor.
Snacks will be provided by Taste of Paradise.
