Carry a piece of history in the 2015 PanAm torch relay

 

The Town of Collingwood is pleased to announce that the Toronto 2015 PanAm / Parapan Am Games torch relay will be visiting Collingwood in early June.

Members of the public have the chance to be a part of the 2015 Pan Am games by carrying the torch through the Collingwood leg of the torch relay.

The Town of Collingwood is hosting a contest to select a local torchbearer. Potential torchbearers must submit an essay, audio recording, video or any other creative piece that explains what being a torchbearer would mean to them. Submissions should reflect the core characteristics of the relay: community, celebration, participation and pride.

The contest runs from January 5th until January 23rd. The winner will be announced on January 30th 2015. Audio/visual submissions must not exceed seven minutes in length and written material must be 1,000 words or less. Submissions will be accepted by email to kcubitt@collingwood.ca or in person at the Parks, Recreation & Culture department located at 55 Ste. Marie Street. All submissions must be received by Friday, January 23rd 2015 at 4:00 p.m. 705-444-2500 Ext. 3295.

Applicants must be at least 13 years of age on or before May 30, 2015, be a Canadian citizen or legal resident of Canada; and be able to run/ wheel their assigned 200m segment on their assigned day.
